EWRI E-board Election for the Year 2022-2023 

New officers have been elected by EWRI members to run the chapter for 2022-2023. The election took place on December 7th, 2022 at Jarvis 205 conference room. Each candidate gave a speech, then members voted to their favorite nominees. Md. Mahbubul Alam was selected as the new president of EWRI. Chonglin Zhu was selected as vice president. Sumaiya Saifur was selected as a treasurer and Md. Arafat Ali was selected as a secretary.

EWRI Startup BBQ

On the September 25th 2021, a BBQ party was arranged at the Chestnut Ridge Park to reunite all the EWRI members after the COVID pandemic and also to welcome the new members. Some photos from the program

Visit to Bird Island Treatment Plant

On the September 25th 2021, a tour was arranged to Bird Island Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP). This is located in Bird island just off shore from Buffalo’s Westside and Black Rock neighborhoods. The plant is the second largest sewage treatment plant in the state, and it accepts waste from the city of Buffalo as well as some surrounding suburbs and some septic and grease collection companies. It was a fun tour for the gradute students from Environmental and Water Resources Engineering and Engineering Sustainability. Here are some photos from the tour

EWRI E-board Election for the Year 2021-2022 

The elections for the new executive board members of the 2021-2022 academic session was held hybrid by the GSC of EWRI. The election included speeches by the nominated candidates, followed by voting. The elected members are: Zachary T. Kralles (President), Zolal Ayazpour (Vice President), Md Mahbubul Alam (Treasurer), and Brandon Surdi (Secretary). In a follow-up meeting, Chonglin Zhu, Sumaiya Saifur, Md Arafat Ali, and Tashfia Mohona, graduate students at the CSEE department at UB, volunteered to become executive officers to facilitate events and assist the E-board.

New environmental engineering club hosts students from a top chinese university

UB's Environmental and Water Resource Institution (EWRI), a newly formed club for graduate students in the environmental engineering program, hosted over a dozen students from Tsinghua University in China earlier this month. (Aug.29th, 2018)

After the first year activity of the EWRI, new officers have been elected by EWRI members. Each candidate gave a speech, then members voted to their favorite nominees. Yilan Li was selected as a new president of EWRI. Novin Mehrabi was selected as a vice president. Hamed Khorasani was selected as a treasurer, and Soo Bin Chun was selected as a secretary. Stress Relief Workshop

Everyone has faced situations where they are under too much pressure, exam week is a familiar example. To help students learn how to tackle stress, EWRE decided to hold a stress relief workshop to make students familiar with stress control methods. Also, students learned about different activities and facilities provided by UB for stress and tension relief. At the end of the meeting, food and beverages were served. EWRI GSC Meeting

The first periodical meeting of EWRI GSC was held at the beginning of the 2018 fall semester in the conference room of Jarvis Hall. The officers discussed their expectations from the GSC and talked about their future activities such as some workshop topics for students and young faculties. Students were encouraged to join EWRI, and new executive officers were recruited from the volunteers. Food and beverages were served at the end of the meeting. In the second EWRI GSC meeting, a UB environmental faculty and two UB environmental engineering alumni gave their speech on how they found a job. Different subjects such as the difference between academic and industrial jobs, how to write an eye-catching resume, how to prepare for an interview, etc were discussed. Students also talked about their concerns and asked their questions to our invited guests.  At the end of the meeting, food and beverages were served.
